when do hummingbirds lay eggs

Hummingbirds lay their eggs in the spring shortly after they arrive in our area from their migration. One fall while pruning the tree, I happened to cut down a branch with a hummingbird nest so I was familiar with what they look like.

the next spring I was lucky enough to see a hummingbird building a similar nest on the branch of the tree just next to our back porch. We watched her build and nest and raise two babies. Because the nest resembles a small coffee cup, there is not a lot to see with the nest overhead like that, but we could see her hover over over the nest. Eventually the young birds grew big enough to poke their beaks up above the top of the nest we saw a little more of them.
