Right atrium and ventricle receive and pump oxygen-poor blood from the body to the lungs.

Left atrium and ventricle receive oxygen-rich blood from the lungs and pump it throughout the body.

Arterial vessels carry oxygen-poor blood to the lungs and venous vessels carrying oxygen-rich blood back to the heart. Oxygen level of the blood carried in the pulmonary arteries is low and it is high in the pulmonary veins.
