Explain the significance of Hindenburg's death.

Hindenburg's death in August 1934 allowed Hitler to take total power, declaring himself the Fuhrer of Germany and taking all the powers of the president.

Furthermore, he procured an oath of absolute loyalty to him from each member of the army.

The death of Hindenburg is greatly significant because it permitted Hitler to establish the Third Reich, destroying all that was left of the Weimar republic.
